Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns Lakeside?

Lakeside is owned and operated by Vantage Point Retirement Living, LLC, located in Southeastern PA. Since 1992, Greg and Rita Stevens have been involved in developing, owning and operating four Assisted Living Residences and two Retirement Living Communities in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. They have been involved in the Senior Housing and Healthcare related fields for almost three decades. A deep belief in providing Seniors with choice, options, security and exceptional staff support in order for Seniors to live their lives with dignity and independence has been a driving force in their life long commitment.

What is involved in the admissions process?

Our admission team will guide you throughout the process. Your physician will need to complete the pre-admission Healthcare Practitioner Form which is required by the State of Maryland. After reviewing this information we will proceed with a Nursing Assessment, which can be completed at the referring facility, in the privacy of your own home (within a 60 mile radius), or at Lakeside. Upon admission, a complete contract with our full disclosure statements will be reviewed with you and your family. This document must be signed by the responsible party (or parties) at that time. We will endeavor to answer all of your questions at any time.

How are fees determined?

At Lakeside, we provide services based upon your individual needs. Your monthly fees are based on a combination of floor plan chosen, your level of care, and any ancillary services you may choose. This along with your choice of accommodations and the number of occupants will determine your monthly fee.

What medical assistance is provided?

Our staff consists of L.P.N.’s, R.N.’s and C.N.A.’s who provide care for our residents 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Nurses are directly involved with all aspects of your healthcare. They distribute and monitor medications, injections, change dressings, chart all medical notes and interact with physicians and medical care partners to provide you with a well-rounded plan of care. Certified Nursing Assistants provide assistance with all activities of daily living.

What happens in case of an emergency?

Lakeside provides each resident with a state of the art LifeLine monitoring pendant or wristband. While within your apartment, if you are in need of immediate attention relating to any emergency, all you have to do is push the button located on the device. You are immediately connect by voice to your nursing staff that can speak to you as they come to assist you in determining your needs. A computer monitors response times and provides a written record of each incident. This is a much-improved option over the “pull-cord” system that you must be able to reach in order to gain assistance.

I’m worried about the meals and dining experience, what can I expect?

Dining at Lakeside is not so very different from eating out at a restaurant every night! Not only will
our glowing fireplace add to your dining experience, but also the lively conversation, delicious food and top-notch servers will engage your appetite. We also serve low salt, low fat diets, with exceptional taste, quality and visual appeal. Our chef works closely with a Registered Dietician in order to provide a
well-balanced meal that is sure to please.

Do you provide for Alzheimer’s and/or dementia care?

Special services are provided for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia related conditions in our secured “Compass” Unit. The Compass Unit’s design allows for safe access to a warm and friendly interior, as well as to secure, beautifully landscaped exterior spaces. Through the Compass Program, trained professionals nurture our residents’ individuality while preserving their physical and cognitive abilities.

What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is a short term admission designed to assist an individual in making an easier transition from a hospital/rehab stay back to their home. Additionally, respite can be a benefit for individuals whose families are seeking reprieve from caregiver responsibilities. The same admissions process applies to Respite Care as it would for a permanent stay. The minimum length of stay is 30 days. Prior to a permanent stay, Respite Care can be a good way to determine if Lakeside is right for you or your family member.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Yes, we encourage new residents to surround themselves with their personal belongings, photos and memorabilia. We celebrate individuality and the varied careers and personalities that become part of our family. We even have a monthly “showcase” which is devoted to anyone who would like to share his or her rich history and culture with us.
